Black women have been leading for every one of them — in churches, in classrooms, in union halls, in movements, at kitchen tables, and eventually in statehouses and city halls. Leading was never the question. Being counted was.

That's the first 250. We're building the next one.

We train. Leadership development that prepares Black women to lead in public life, and a community that makes sure none of them does it alone.

We count. Our decade-long research partnership with the Center for American Women and Politics produces Black Women in American Politics — the definitive record of where Black women stand in public leadership. If you've ever cited a statistic about Black women in office, there's a good chance we produced it.

We engage. Through #BlackWomenVote, we do the nonpartisan civic work that makes participation durable: registration, education, and the long habit of showing up.
